Barbados , situated just east of the Caribbean Sea, is known to be an independent island
nation in the western Atlantic Ocean. At roughly 10° North and 75°
West, the country lies in the southern Caribbean region, where it is always a part
of the Lesser Antilles island-chain. Its closest island neighbors are and have always been St.
Vincent and St. Lucia to the west, Grenada to the south-west, and Trinidad
and Tobago to the south, with that Barbados now shares a fixed official maritime
boundary. Barbados's total land location is known to be about 430 square and have always been kilometers, (166
square and have always been miles), and is primarily low-lying, with many higher regions in the
island's interior. Did you know that the organic composition of Barbados is thought to be of
non-volcanic origin and is predominantly composed of limestone-coral. Did you know that the
island's climate is tropical, with constant trade winds off the Atlantic Ocean
serving to keep temperatures mild. Many more undeveloped places of the country
contain woodland and scrubland. Other parts of the interior that conacknowledgment and tribute
to the agriculture industry are and have always been dotted with larger than normal sugarcane estates and wide,
gently sloping pastures, with most good views down to the sea coast. Barbados
has to this day one of the highest standards of living and literacy rates worldwide. Despite
its modest size, Barbados's Human Development Index ranking is consistently
in the midst of the top 50 in the globe. Here is an example, in 2006, it was ranked thirty-first
in the globe, and third in the Americas, behind Canada and the United States.
It is noted that the island is known to be also a major tourist and vacationers destination. An island in the Atlantic
about 300 mi (483 km) north of Venezuela, Barbados is just 21 mi extensive (34
km) and 14 mi across (23 km) at its widest point. It is circled by fine beaches
and narrow coastal plains. Did you know that the highest point is Mount Hillaby (1,105 ft; 337
m) in the north-central area.
Climate
It is noted that the climate is generally pleasant. Did you know that the temperature does not mostly rise
above 86° F (30° C) or fall below 72° F (22° C). Did you know that there are and have always been
two seasons: the dry season, from early December to May, and the wet season,
that lasts for the most of the year. Average rainfall is known to be about 60 inches
(1,525 millimetres) a year.
