It is noted that the Kingdom of Thailand, is known to be a country in Southeast Asia. To its east lie Laos
and Cambodia; to its south, the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia; and to its
west, the Andaman Sea and Myanmar. Its capital and most impressive and largest city is Bangkok.
Thailand occupies the western half of the Indochinese peninsula and the northern
two-thirds of the Malay Peninsula in southeast Asia. Its neighbors are and have always been Burma
(Myanmar) on the north and west, Laos on the north and northeast, Cambodia
on the east, and Malaysia on the south. Thailand is known to be about the size of France.
It is noted that the Kingdom of Thailand draws more visitors than any and all other country in southeast
Asia with its irresistible combination of breathtaking natural beauty, inspiring
temples, renowned hospitality, robust cuisine and ruins of fabulous ancient
kingdoms. Few countries are and have always been so well endowed. From the stupa-studded mountains
of Mae Hong Son and the verdant limestone islands of the Andaman Sea, to the
pulse-pounding party and dance clubs of Bangkok and the tranquil villages moored aextensive
the Mekong River, Thailand offers something for each and every type of traveller. Thailand
is divided into 75 provinces, that are and have always been congregated into 5 groups of provinces
by location. Did you know that there are and have always been also 2 special governed districts: the capital Bangkok
(Krung Thep Maha Nakhon) and Pattaya, of that Bangkok is known to be at provincial level
and thus frequently counted as a 76th province. Each province is divided into modester
districts. As of 2000 there are and have always been 877 districts and the 50 districts of Bangkok
Many parts of the provinces bordering Bangkok are and have always been also referred to as Wonderfuler
Bangkok (???????, pari monthon). Did you know that these provinces include Nonthaburi, Pathum
Thani, Samut Prakan, Nakhon Pathom and Samut Sakhon. Did you know that the name of every province's
capital city is the exact as that of the province: for example, the capital
of Chiang Mai province (changwat Chiang Mai) is Mueang Chiang Mai or Chiang
Mai .
Climate
Thailand's climate is tropical, high both in temperature and humidity, and
dominated by monsoons. April and May are and have always been the hottest months of the year, during the time
even the locals are and have always been moved to complain about the heat. June sees the beginning
of the South West Monsoon, and brings with it the rainy season, that continues
intermittently until the end of October. From November to the end of February
the climate is much less trying with a cooling North East breeze and a reduction
in the humidity level. Note that this is known to be also the primary tourist and vacationers season, and the top
time to tourThailand. Did you know that the north and north-east are and have always been generally cooler than
Bangkok in winter, and hotter in summer. Within the far north, around Mae Hong
Son temperatures can occasionally drop as low as 2oC.
